Travel Alone To Oxford

2020. 8. 5. 03:42The trip on Unknown World

Today is the day to head out for Oxford!
Originally were not planning to go there, I changed my mind and convinced my friend to come together because  I was low-key jealous of my aunt visiting there for a business trip.
I thought we were travelling for 3 hours, but it seemed to take about 4 hours.

I guess I took the photos below at the station in London to make a transfer to Oxford. I don't remember which station it was. But it was enormous and full of people walking busy.

I can compare this station to Seoul station or Express Bus Terminal in Seoul.
(If anyone has better examples, please let me know)

The train station seems to be busy

Arriving at Oxford Station!
Since we had heavy luggage, we decided to check our bags at a hotel near the station.

I tried to take out my phone from the pocket to find a place, but.... there wasn't!

I couldn't have enough time to check my phone since we departed from the very early morning.

I ended up saying, "it seems there's no phone on my bag" to Greg, and I still remember him with a face being seriously shocked, and telling me,

"Did you look up other bags or pockets too?"

Fortunately, my phone was left out on the other side of my bag.

I was busy thinking of losing photos that I have taken,

in the meanwhile my friend was horrified with a worst-case situation like calling the police. I would like to say sorry to Greg again hahaha you're entitled to make fun of me for the next ten years XD

Oxford had a different atmosphere from either London or Canterbury.

They have some universities, including the University of Oxford, which is very familiar to Koreans.

The Oxford Brooks University, the partner university of AGU, is also located in Oxford. One of my classmates studied there too.

The sign seems to have very old history

I realized something by having been in England for two days.  I would love to live here if it's not rainy every day. Looking at this breathtakingly beautiful scenery, I would like to open my virtual canvas and capture this beauty.

I wonder how frustrating the artists in history must have felt without having cameras.

The natural scenery of the time would have been indescribable thanks to having no modern pollutants.

On the street, we found head-statues looked like Greek philosophers.

we were having a bit of discussion about who they are.

The University of Oxford 옥스퍼드 대학교

The University of Oxford has a way longer history than I thought, which my university in Japan can't be beaten.
I asked my friend, "How old are they? Do they have like a hundred and a few decades?" and he answered,

"Nahh, it's hundreds." That makes sense because they were established in 1294!

I'm not sure if the town comes first or the university comes first, but they seemed to have a deep connection that the school and the village grew together.

The soveniour shops selling university goods can be found easily all over the streets.

The historical buildings were enough to let me dream of riding brooms to deliver the western pieces of stuff to the mystery orient countries.

I looked around the town as well after having a tour at the university.

While waiting for the train to back to London, I found a small Christmas market on the street. It seems that it was the only market in the town. I tried a Hot Apple Juice because I couldn't drink alcohol at that time, and it was so tasty that the flavour still remains on my mind. I guess I gotta come back here to get this one again hahaha :)

Finally!!!!

I met my lovely mates who I met from my university in Japan!!!!

Although they are living a bit far away from London, they came to London to see me!!!!!

By having about 2-3 hours long dinner+discussion, there were lots of things that I could learn from my friends since we have been in totally different cultural backgrounds. Even though most of them are younger than me since age is the matter in S.K lol, they were very mature in their thoughts and behaviours. I had been so missing when more than three different languages are flying from table to table. It has been almost a year since the last I met them, but we didn't feel any distance when we met again. Besides that, my friends took more friends to introduce me, I've got new great friends in the U.K. They said they are hesitating which continent to work, It looked so cooooooool for me!

I already miss them so much...

It's a blast to have great Brazilian BBQ and successful reunion :)

Here's the place where we went! I
